Purity asks how much
Purity testing estimates how much of a sample appears to be the intended compound versus impurities under a method.
Identity asks what it is
Identity testing supports whether the compound matches the expected molecule or sequence.
One number is not the whole story
Purity does not automatically prove identity, sterility, stability, contaminants, handling, legality, or human safety.
Read the report scope
A good research-literacy habit is to ask what the report actually measured and what it did not measure.
